Job Description
JOB TITLE: Visual Designer
DEPARTMENT: Design and Store Planning, Construction & Design
POSITION PURPOSE: The Visual Designer is part of a highly collaborative, resourceful, and fast-paced Design Team which directly supports Corporate initiatives and innovation in addition to supporting the unique projects in each Banner in the Company. Under the direction of the Manager, Design the Visual Designer will own tasks from initial concept, to active participation in feedback, to polished presentation graphics leveraging a skillset within 2D and 3D tools. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Apply relevant terminology, methods, best practices, and techniques required for visual design using vector and raster based graphics using Adobe Creative Cloud and technical drafting using CAD, specifically AutoCAD Architecture.
  • Create immersive solutions and realistic environments using 3D software and gaming engine platforms to showcase proposals in terms of design, color, material, and experience.
  • Create conceptual solutions including multiple design options to be presented to and reviewed by internal stakeholders. Complete revisions as needed.
  • Create, maintain, and organize 3D design standards, specifications and templates across various project scope or business partners.
  • Design and maintain palettes of CAD based elements, tools and equipment blocks to support the Store Planners in the completion of Store Layout drawings. Elements may be created from: field notes, sketches, or adapted from other drawings.
  • Organize and set standards for electronic files (PSD, AI, 3DS, DWG, DXF, PDF, etc.) and digital assets created for sharing on Enterprise Site. Current platform is Microsoft Sharepoint.
  • Create architectural building elevation studies, ranging from repaint only of existing building to extensive tear-off and rebuild. Studies are used for agency/city approval.
  • Create illustrated guides and assist with internal training of graphic and technical tools as applicable.
  • Technical knowledge of building codes, building system and planning principles a plus.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Education Level:
  • B.A. or B.S. in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Architectural Design, or comparable degree.
  • Experience in creating digital environments or in-store communication programs.
  • Previous work in graphic design, advertising, or marketing.
Experience Level:
  • 2+ years
Skills and Background:
  • Proficiency with Graphic Design and 3D Rendering Software. Examples include: Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, Revit, 3D Max, Blender, etc.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and iterative team environment while coordinating with other stakeholders in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Understand the value of user feedback and prototyping.
  • Demonstrated work in the creation of effective human centered design.
  • Ability to work independently. Execute multiple tasks with deadlines and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Possess good organizational, communication, presentation, interpersonal and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to devise new and/or improved techniques, approaches, or alternative solutions to improve workflows and turnarounds.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Architecture.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Travel to off-site locations as needed
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during a normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
