TITLE: Light Vehicle Mechanic

LOCATION: Ruth, Nevada

DEPARTMENT: Mine Maintenance

REPORTS TO: Light Vehicle Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:

Primary responsibilities include: carrying out diagnostic procedures; implement and monitor environmental regulations in the automotive mechanical industry; repair ignition systems; service and repair electronic spark ignition engine management systems; test, service and charge batteries; carry out repairs to single electrical circuits. Repairing: cooling systems, engines and associated engine components, petrol fuel systems, repair and replace emission control systems. Inspect, service and/or repair clutch assemblies and associated operating system components; inspect and service transmissions (automatic), repair transmissions (manual). Repair: hydraulic braking systems, drive train systems, steering systems, suspension systems. Install, test and repair low voltage wiring/lighting systems. Inspect and service emission control systems; select and use bearings, seals, gaskets, sealants and adhesives; remove and install engine assemblies; service diesel fuel injection systems; install and service air conditioning systems; inspect vehicle systems and determine preferred repair action; carry out vehicle safety/roadworthy inspection; carry out servicing operations; use and maintain workplace tools and equipment; weld using gas metal arc welding. Must be able work effectively with others; establish relations with customers; organize and complete daily work activities; must apply safe working practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must have a minimum of 5-10 years as a service/mechanical technician (experience working on Ford, Chevy or Dodge is preferred), Ford Dealer certifications are highly desirable. Trade qualified light vehicle mechanic or auto-electrician. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Salary: Depending on experience
