Job Description
PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE:

Integral in idea generation process by working directly with the Executive Director and Vice President. Responsible for the identification and development of all Trend Collections, Holiday, APAC Focused Collections, Travel Retail, Retailer Exclusives, Promotional Sets, shade extensions and reformulations within the color category, from concept to counter, working creatively with Product Development and strategically with Marketing. Responsible for initiating, processing and tracking projects through development process in order to create the highest quality products while problem-solving and troubleshooting to ensure meeting timelines.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Idea Generation

  • Work with PD team to brainstorm new ideas/concepts. Responsible for tracking these ideas/concepts and work with relevant teams to bring to life
  • Attend brainstorming sessions/R&D meetings as well as third party vendor meetings to seek innovation and new concepts – have creative input. Responsible for keeping log of interested items and keeping track for future development and calendarization
  • Attend industry trade and trend shows, conferences and lectures to keep informed of new product and packaging directions and trends. Present synopsis to team.
  • Research current and future market and shade trends to ensure relevancy on all programs, current and future
  • Keep team informed of current competitive products and market trends

Project Initiation

  • Define quality benchmark prototypes
  • Initiate and complete Project Concepts, Briefs and Profiles that generate creative claim opportunities, identify competitive advantages to further enhance product positioning and drive story telling around hero products

Development Process

  • Manage the development of all Trend Collections, Holiday, APAC Focused Collections, Travel Retail, Retailer Exclusives, Promotional Sets, shade extensions in Color Categories, from concept to counter, working creatively with the Product Development team and strategically with Marketing. These collections highlight and build upon our brand heroes to continue to drive growth
  • Reformulate/Update existing Products
  • Collaborate with key counterparts in R&D to support the development process.
    • Collaborate with Claims testing on desired claims. Create range of potential claims in coordination with clinical team and legal
    • Complete Safety/Sensory test requests
    • Follow-up on start/finish testing dates
  • Collaborate with Global Marketing to support product launches by assisting with
    • Messaging Hierarchies
    • Bulletins
    • Product Naming
    • Line Edit
  • Work jointly with third party vendors in development process
  • Ensure timely completion of development activities
  • Partner with Global Marketing, Creative Packaging, Packaging, R&D, Global Supply Chain and Global Supply Relations to maintain timelines and provide accurate and up to date information
  • Partner with Creative Operations and Post-Production teams to provide feedback on retouching product image bases and photoshoot images
  • Work with management to provide clear direction to Packaging and Creative Packaging on all formulation aspects including ingredients, actives, viscosity, color, as well as formula limitations
  • Work with management to evaluate and approve proposed package submissions for evacuation, aesthetics, and functionality
  • Work with Global Makeup Artist Panel in product evaluation testing
  • Provide written status to ED/VP of projects & related issues
  • Attend PPD and OPS meetings communicate a product's development progress
  • Evaluate all shade/formula submissions and approve Shade Establishments, Lab Standard, Pilot batches (on-site if necessary)
  • Organize project bags, label standards and keep all projects in orderly manner
  • Approve all artwork in Teamcenter
  • Assist Global Marketing, Artistry/Education, Creative, Ecommerce and PR in developing and/or reviewing product information for field, consumer pcs, press and Influencers.
  • Provide updated information to Education and Artistry for existing line
  • Lead Product Turnover meetings which includes Marketing, GBSC, Creative, Education. This includes presenting new formulas/concepts/shades/collections for the first time and ideating creative ways to showcase/explain ingredients and activity in product as well as inspiration behind new shades

Production

  • Travel to ELC R&D, manufacturing facilities and outside vendors (US and International) to approve Test Fills, PPB/First Production batches.
  • Work directly with QC to establish and maintain high quality first production standards

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or 3-4 years relevant experience
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with a high level of detail
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Excellent leaderships skills highlighting partnering/teamwork
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint
